Being a Pasta Lover, I was very thrilled to find out that there was a month dedicated to it .
I was shocked !!!! I guess culinary specialist have this information .....LOL
So, it's Pasta month!!! Let's celebrate .... :-)
I decided to research Pasta a little. Just because i adore having a nice full plate of it , doesn't mean that it is absolutely good for the body .
Gladly enough i can to report that it does have some health benefits.
So here are 5 top health benefits of eating pasta :
1.Pasta is rich in vitamin A, which helps to promote healthy vision.
2: Consuming pasta is also good for the skin. It helps to promote growth of new skin cells.
3: It helps in hair growth.
Whole wheat pasta is rich in folic acid. If you suffer from hair fall problem, then increase consumption of pasta in your diet plan. Folic acid also helps reduce acne and breakouts on the skin.
4: Helps improve cardiovascular health.
As pasta is rich in potassium, it helps reduce the high cholesterol in the body, which prevents heart disease.
5: It is good for muscle health.
Consumption of pasta on a regular basis helps to prevent the problem of muscle stiffness in the body.
It also helps to relax the muscle spasms and pains.
6: It is good for the bones .
Pasta is rich in amino acids and proteins. Proteins help to maintain the bone health.
Intake of pasta can also help to prevent bone related pain. If you suffer from the problem of joint pains, then have pasta at least twice in a week.
So without overdoing it, I am happy to know that i can indulge in my favorite dish and it has actually have health benefits associated to it. This following recipe has been tried by yours truly it is absolutely delicious and so healthy and the best part, easy and is made very fast.
Shrimp Penne with Olives, Red Pepper, and Artichoke
Didn’t go shopping? You don’t have to give up on a homemade dinner! Grab the perfect pantry staple, pasta, and a few other ingredients you probably have around your kitchen, and you have a delicious shrimp penne dinner in only 20 minutes.
Ingredients:
- 4 oz. penne
- 3 Tbsp./1 ½ oz. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tbsp./½ oz. chopped garlic
- 2 cups/8 oz. prepared roasted red peppers
- 1 (13.5 oz.) can artichokes, drained and quartered
- 1 cup/4.5 oz black olives, pitted and roughly chopped
- 12 each/4 oz. frozen medium shrimp, thawed
- 1 cup/1 oz. shredded basil
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne according to package directions. Drain and reserve.
Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and garlic and cook until aromatic and just starting to brown (about 30 seconds). Stir in the red pepper, artichokes, and olives and heat through. Stir in the shrimp and penne.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Just before serving, stir in the basil.
